Vrijdag de 13de. Een uitgelezen moment om de telekinese af te stoffen, spreuken uit te spreken en wraak te nemen op vijanden die het verdienen. Dat doen we met twee cultklassiekers die ons in de juiste sfeer brengen en terug meenemen naar de middelbare school. Echt griezelen, dus!

CARRIE (US 1976 - 98' GEEN OT)
Carrie White is een buitenbeentje op school. Door de beschutte opvoeding van haar religieus fanatieke moeder – die in alles een zonde ziet – is Carrie wereldvreemd en onwennig. Een gemakkelijke prooi voor pestkoppen. Haar klasgenoten plotten de ultieme vernedering tijdens hun eindejaarsbal, maar weten niet dat Carrie telekinetische krachten bezit.

King of Horror Stephen King schreef zijn eerste gepubliceerde roman Carrie in 1974 en had meteen een beroemde fan: regisseur Brian De Palma. De Palma castte Sissy Spacek in de nu legendarische titelrol en creëerde met CARRIE een horrormeesterwerk dat 50 jaar na datum – en in een tijd van toenemende geweld- en pestincidenten op school – relevant blijft.

THE CRAFT (US 1996 - 101' GEEN OT)
Net als in CARRIE bevinden we ons in THE CRAFT opnieuw in een middelbare school. De pestkoppen zijn er ook. Net als de tienermeisjes en hun bovennatuurlijke krachten. Sarah Bailey is de nieuwkomer op de katholieke school. Ze raakt bevriend met drie buitenstaanders, waarvan wordt beweerd dat ze heksen zijn. Wanneer ze ‘the craft’ ontdekken, staat niets hen in de weg om hun krachten voor zichzelf en tegen hun pesters te gebruiken.

Deze double bill zorgt gegarandeerd voor ongemakkelijk flashbacks naar je middelbare schooljaren, maar staat daarnaast garant voor een avondje huiveren. Hekserij, telekinese en veel, véél bloed. Geweldig op het grote scherm, maar drink na afloop even iets voordat je terug het maanlicht in wandelt… Er zijn losse tickets voor beide films verkrijgbaar én voordelige combotickets!

Just like in CARRIE, we find ourselves back in high school in THE CRAFT. The bullies are there too. As are the teenage girls and their paranormal powers. Sarah Bailey is the newcomer at a catholic prep school. She becomes friends with three outcasts, who are whispered to be witches. When the foursome discovers ‘the craft’, nothing stands in their way to use it for themselves and to teach their tormentors a little something.

This double bill promises some uncomfortable flashbacks to high school but equally guarantees a night of spooky fun. Witchcraft, telekinesis and blood, lots of blood. Great on the big screen, but make sure to have some liquid courage before heading out into the moonlight… There are single tickets or combo tickets for both films available!
