Met trots presenteren we de Belgische première van WOMEN & THE WIND, een documentaire die een intieme en gedurfde oversteek van de Atlantische Oceaan volgt, ondernomen door drie vrouwen aan boord van Mara Noka, een 50 jaar oude houten catamaran.
Gedurende 30 dagen op zee legt filmmaker Alizé Jireh de reis vast—van momenten van stilte en rust tot stormen en tegenslagen. Met een observerende stijl en oog voor zowel de fysieke als emotionele ritmes van het leven op zee, vangt Jireh niet alleen het uitgestrekte landschap, maar ook de innerlijke verschuivingen die ontstaan bij het bevaren van het onbekende.
Women in the Wind onderzoekt de wisselwerking tussen menselijke kwetsbaarheid en de onvoorspelbaarheid van de natuur. De film nodigt uit tot reflectie over onze relatie met de oceaan, en daarmee ook met onszelf. Met een sterke visuele stijl en meeslepend geluid plaatst de film de zee niet enkel als decor, maar als een actieve kracht in het verhaal.

We're proud to host the Belgian premiere of WOMEN & THE WIND, a feature-length documentary capturing a bold and intimate trans-Atlantic journey led by three women aboard Mara Noka, a 50-year-old wooden catamaran.

Shot over the course of 30 days at sea, filmmaker Alizé Jireh documents the group’s voyage across the North Atlantic—from moments of stillness and calm to the chaos of storms and setbacks. With an observational approach and an eye for the emotional and physical rhythms of life at sea, Jireh captures not just the external landscape, but the internal shifts that come with navigating the vast unknown.

Women in the Wind explores the interplay between human vulnerability and nature’s unpredictability. The film invites us to reflect on our relationship with the ocean, and in turn, with ourselves. With a strong visual language and immersive sound design, it positions the sea not just as backdrop, but as a central force in the narrative.
