Ze verwierf een iconische status in Frankrijk en ver daarbuiten door haar onvergetelijke vertolkingen. Met haar performances zette Moreau niet alleen zichzelf, maar ook verschillende Franse auteurs op de filmhistorische kaart. Denk maar aan Louis Malle met ASCENSEUR POUR L’ÉCHAFAUD en LES AMANTS of François Truffaut met JULES ET JIM. Haar sensuele verschijning ondersteunde een feilloze timing en acteertechniek. Een combinatie die ervoor zorgde dat Moreau enkelen van de meest complexe vrouwen van de filmgeschiedenis tot leven bracht.

Moreau debuteerde als regisseur met LUMIÈRE in 1976, schreef het scenario en nam de hoofdrol op zich. Ook L’ADOLESCENTE uit 1979, opnieuw geregisseerd en geschreven door Moreau, staat op ons programma. De actrice kende haar start in het theater, maar werd onsterfelijk op het witte doek met een carrière die 60 jaar besloeg.

She acquired an iconic status in France and far abroad through her unforgettable portrayals. With her performances, she not only put herself but also other French actors on the film historic map. Think of Louis Malle with ASCENSEUR POUR L’ÉCHAFAUD and LES AMANTS or François Truffaut with JULES ET JIM. Her sensual appearance supported flawless timing and acting technique. A combination that ensured that Moreau could bring some of the most complex women in film history to life.
With LUMIÈRE (with ENG subs), Moreau made her debut in 1976 as a director. She also wrote the screenplay and played the main part. L’ADOLESCENTE (with ENG subs) from 1979, again directed and written by Moreau, is also on our programme. The actress started in the theatre but became immortal on the big screen with a career which spanned 60 years.
