Wanneer de 11-jarige Coraline naar een groot oud huis verhuist, verveelt ze zich snel. Haar ouders hebben ook niet veel tijd voor haar, dus Coraline gaat dan maar op onderzoek uit. Op haar speurtocht ontdekt ze een verborgen deur. Tijdens de nacht sluipt ze door de deur en vindt een parallelle wereld waar iedereen knopen heeft in plaats van ogen, maar nog best van al: in deze wereld heeft ze liefhebbende ouders. Een wereld waarin al haar dromen uitkomen! Wanneer de Andere Moeder uit de parallelle wereld Coraline uitnodigt om voor altijd te blijven, ontdekt ze dat alles toch niet zo leuk is als ze dacht…

When 11-year-old Coraline moves into a big, old house, she is quickly bored. Her parents don’t have much time for her, so Coraline sets out to investigate her new surroundings. She finds a hidden door and during the night she sneaks through the door to find a parallel world where everyone has buttons instead of eyes. But best of all: in this world, Coraline has loving, attentive parents. A world in which all of her dreams come true! When the Other Mother from the parallel world invites Coraline to stay forever, she discovers that everything isn’t as fun as she thought it was…
