Who are you when it gets dark?

Dienne

The Belgian composer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist Dienne builds songs and soundscapes which portray the images and stories that play behind her eyes. Combining analogue instruments like the oboe, the piano, and the flute with reverb-drenched vocals and shimmers of processed electronic sources, she creates hazy pieces of music full of the melancholy of remembrance and loss.

Her debut album Addio (2022) was released on Nicolás Jaar’s Other People imprint. Following the passing of her grandmother due to COVID-19, and being unable to properly say goodbye due to travel restrictions, Dienne set out to give her farewell in musical form. The result is a deeply intimate work that channels classical instrumentation through foggy electronic experimentation. Memories, biographies, and family histories merge in this simultaneously sombre and optimistic work which plays out like a universal and comforting ode to loved ones lost.

Elders

Lovers Tom Pintens and Laurence Roothooft started the Elders adventure together in order to give a sound to their mutual desires and struggles. The result is a catchy melancholic world with beats, unique vocals, guitar and synths. Indeed, much of this electronic dreampop would not be out of place on a David Lynch movie soundtrack. Before they could release their first album however, sadly Tom passed away. Laurence decided to continue their project and released Elders together with Simon Nuytten on guitar and Bent Van Looy on drums. This live band gives the music of Elders an even more intense and danceable sound.

Gaiko

Splintered percussion interwoven with graceful harmonies barraging into all four corners of the room trying to bring the dance floor back onto the living room, dj gaiko tries to convey the feelings of club music into intricate dreamlike compositions. It results in an ambitious form of electronic dance music tying together a multitude of genres like idm, jungle, garage, breakbeat, hard dance, trance, pop, hiphop, grime as well as his background in jazz music. Taking incentives from these different entry points and tying them together into a gut reaction.

MIMI

MIMI is a sonic storyteller who goes beyond the usual musical boundaries. She paints vivid soundscapes by blending the ambient experimental noises of our surroundings, hyper-pop music, and classical, creating an immersive journey. Grounded in her inquiry into the Anthropocene, her performances become a nuanced interplay of inspiration and discontent. Infused with the brushstrokes of tension and release, these sets reflect the influence of her Buddhist practice, adding an element of surrender and acceptance to the sonic landscape.
Purposefully incorporating the mysterious and uncanny, her compositions not only evoke a sense of impending doom but also embrace the profound beauty found in  yielding to the natural rhythms of existence.

Pauline Miko

PLUIES is a sound and performative project by Belgian-Hungarian artist Pauline Mikó, aiming to strengthen the relationship between plants, nature and human beings. Through a system of sensors and electrodes connected to the roots of several plants and the body of the artist, the bio-electric exchange set up is transformed into sound waves, thanks to a modular synthesizer. The sound waves are then modulated to produce music, both for the ears of the spectators but also for the plants themselves. This system of electrodes, created by the artist, allows the expression of the energies of different plants simultaneously. By mixing nature and technology, Pauline Mikó offers an original and sensory experience. The artist tries to give back a legitimate place to plants in our urban lives. By enhancing our connection to our environment, the idea is to become aware of its fragility and the importance of respecting it. The main intention of the artist is to put organic life back in the center of our communities and allowing a dialogue with Nature.

Oracle & Odyssey

Oracle & Odyssey is the new performance and theatre collective consisting of actors and theatre makers Malique Fye (she/her) and Bavo Buys (they/them). Oracle & Odyssey focusses on world building, magic, non-masculine ways of storytelling and the power of female friendships. In everything they do they try to integrate both an element of prophecy (Oracle) and journeying (Odyssey).
The collective’s first show was Planet Winter, which they made last year as their graduating project at KASK Drama. Planet Winter is an adaptation of Ursula le Guins Left Hand of Darkness (1969). They also performed together a year prior at Shakesqueer during the ‘Gentse Feesten’.
Oracle & Odyssey comes to Fade Into You with their new performance ‘Sexy Secretary Secrecy’, where two secretaries journey through the night with some business to handle. They are extremely corporate, highly professional and slightly nymphomaniac. Nobody seems to be sure what it is they are researching exactly, but it somehow seems to involve beauty. At the witching hour (midnight) the mysterious duo shares their findings in a moment that is somewhere in between a powerpoint presentation, an incantation and a lap dance.

Clara!

Following a passion for the empowering perreo that started in the 00s at her teenage parties in Galicia, Spanish MC and DJ Clara! blends revolt, sex and humor on reggaeton/rap mutant rhythms with a punk spirit and a feminist foundation. For this infectious and twisted take on the gender she joins forces with eclectic producers including Pearson Sound, Low Jack and Maoupa Mazzocchetti. Her DJ sets consist of wide ranging, tempo hopping mixes, lead by her hispanic roots, a blind curiosity, fun and a deep love of dancing. Her iconic “Reggaetoneras” mixtapes compiled 100% female reggaeton MCs with rhythms from the 90s up to the modern day. Crammed with rude drums and hooks levered from major dance hits, and sandwiched with skits and personal edits.

Astrid Sweeney & Weixin Chong

Join us for a taste of the slippery, gelatinous and sense tingling world of Ontogenesis Dreams (customised excerpt)

a luscious hybrid of visual arts, performance and experimental sounds…
Mimicking the movements of plants, machines or insects; a post- or trans-human organism trying to piece together its existence in an ambiguous body…
ontogenesis dreams: a sideways stretching of the sensory limbs is a collaborative hybrid of performance and installative environment choreographed and performed by Astrid Tetsche Sweeney with sculpture & scenography by Weixin Quek Chong and live sounds by Moss Kissing.
Inspired by the molting processes of insects, queer ecologies and the radical vision of post-apocalyptic adaptation in Octavia E. Butler’s Xenogenesis trilogy, they explore the body’s impermanence through its relationship with an ambiguous organic material.

Jonas Alexander

'FREAQS' (an audiovisual work by Jonas Alexander) originated as a commission for Crystallmess' UNLEASHED show on NTS Radio, with a straightforward brief: craft a mix centered on film music. However, in the hands of Jonas Alexander, this evolved into a complex soundscape, intertwining cinema and music to construct a layered vampiric love narrative. The piece serves as both homage and interrogation of the interplay between film and sound, melding original soundtracks,

cinematic dialogue, and club music to reveal hidden symmetries across genres.
The title, FREAQS, speaks to those who defy conventional identities—a euphemism for societal outsiders, “freaks” who reject prescribed norms. The mix’s eclectic composition is deliberately subversive, combining classical music, rock, techno, footwork, rap, country, and beyond, challenging the listener’s expectations and blurring genre boundaries. Alexander’s selection evokes both a sense of dislocation and unity, a sonic space where the freakish and the familiar converge.

Extending the work’s sensorial reach, Alexander, also a filmmaker, created a visualizer featuring performance artist Borgial. Filmed as an hour-long nocturnal promenade through Paris, this visual component immerses the viewer in a disquieting, liminal Paris—a city both familiar and uncanny. Here, the spectator drifts through the enigmatic streets, encountering an aesthetic both alluring and alien, as though traversing a cinematic hallucination. Through FREAQS, Alexander crafts a questioning and experiential dialogue between sound, image, and urban space, inviting audiences to confront the beautifully strange and transgressive.

Justine Capelle

'Moving On' is a DIY post break-up video series filmed on an iPhone and a shabby, broken handycam purchased from Marketplace, emerging after Justine’s long-term romantic relationship ends. The series delves into her emotional limitations and struggles with financial concerns, her artistic career, and the pressure from her parents to improve her situation.
Over two years of dating post-breakup, Justine discovers new ways to redefine her boundaries. Her dates become sources of inspiration, collectively creating a world full of possibilities. Guided by intuition and using her iPhone as a diary, she captures these encounters. In each video, what appears as incompetence is transformed into a competence through both actions and dialogue. Rather than erasing limitations, this transformation embraces them, weaving them into the visual language of the film, where vulnerabilities become integral to the narrative and aesthetic.
