Deze documentaire uit 1970 volgt The Rolling Stones tijdens hun beruchte tournee door de Verenigde Staten in 1969. De film toont beelden van de twee laatste concerten van de tour; het concert in Madison Square garden en een week later een gratis concert in San Francisco’s Altamont Speedway. Dat laatste concert transformeert in een clash tussen 300.000 mensen van de zogenoemde ‘Love Generation’ en een tiental Hells Angels die waren ingehuurd om de orde te bewaken, met als tragisch dieptepunt de dood van de 18-jarige Meredith Hunter die met messteken om het leven werd gebracht. Slechts vier maanden na het zo vreedzame Woodstock leek het Altamont concert het einde te markeren van het liefdevolle hippietijdperk.

This documentary from 1970 follows the Rolling Stones on their infamous tour through the United States in 1969. The film shows images of the last two concerts of the tour; the concert in Madison Square Garden and a free concert in San Francisco's Altamont Speedway a week later. That final concert ended up in a clash between 30.000 people of the so-called 'Love Generation' and a dozen Hells Angels who were hire to maintain order. The tragic low point was the death of 18 year old Meredith Hunter who was killed by stab wounds. Only four months after peaceful Woodstock, Altamont seemed to mark the end of the loving hippie era.
