KINOLATINO

Het Latijns-Amerikaanse filmfestival KINOLATINO werd in 2021 in Brussel opgericht door filmmakers met Latijns-Amerikaanse roots. Gedreven door een passie voor film en maatschappelijke thema’s brengen ze jaarlijks een diverse selectie cinema naar België. Het festival belicht urgente kwesties zoals migratie, feminisme, abortus, democratie, LGBTQI-rechten en klimaatproblematiek, met speciale aandacht voor inheemse stemmen. Van 12 tot 19 april keert het festival terug naar De Cinema in Antwerpen met zes recente films en één klassieker. PACTO DA VIOLA (Brazilië) en UNA CANCION PARA MI TIERRA (Argentinië) vieren muziek en identiteit. FRESA Y CHOCOLATE (Cuba, 1993) en LA PIEL EN PRIMAVERA (Colombia) reflecteren op vriendschap, liefde en vrijheid. QUERIDO TRÓPICO (Panama) en REINAS (Peru) onderzoeken thuis en zelfontdekking, terwijl FORMAS DE ATRAVESAR UN TERRITORIO (Mexico) migratie en identiteit verkent via persoonlijke verhalen.

KINOLATINO, founded in Brussels in 2021 by Latin American filmmakers, showcases a diverse selection of Latin American cinema each year. The festival highlights pressing social issues such as migration, feminism, abortion, democracy, LGBTQI rights, and climate change, with a special focus on Indigenous voices. It provides a platform for stories often overlooked by mainstream media. For the second year, from April 12 to 19, a selection of six recent films and one classic will be screened -in original language and with English subtitles- at De Cinema in Antwerp. This year’s program explores themes of music and identity in PACTO DA VIOLA (Brazil) and UNA CANCION PARA MI TIERRA (Argentina), while FRESA Y CHOCOLATE (Cuba, 1993) and LA PIEL EN PRIMAVERA (Colombia) reflect on friendship, love, and (sexual) freedom. QUERIDO TRÓPICO (Panama) and REINAS (Peru) delve into home and self-discovery, while FORMAS DE ATRAVESAR UN TERRITORIO (Mexico) examines migration and identity through personal narratives.

KINOLATINO, fundado en Bruselas en 2021 por cineastas latinoamericanos, presenta cada año una selección diversa de cine latinoamericano. El festival pone en foco temas sociales urgentes como la migración, el feminismo, el aborto, la democracia, los derechos LGBTQI y el cambio climático, con especial atención a las voces indígenas. Además, ofrece una plataforma para historias que a menudo quedan fuera de los medios convencionales. Por segundo año, del 12 al 19 de abril, se proyectará una selección de seis películas recientes y un clásico —en su idioma original y con subtítulos en inglés— en De Cinema, en Amberes. El programa de este año explora la música y la identidad en PACTO DA VIOLA (Brasil) y UNA CANCION PARA MI TIERRA (Argentina), mientras que FRESA Y CHOCOLATE (Cuba, 1993) y LA PIEL EN PRIMAVERA  (Colombia) reflexionan sobre la amistad, el amor y la libertad (sexual). QUERIDO TRÓPICO (Panamá) y REINAS  (Perú) abordan el hogar y el autodescubrimiento, mientras que FORMAS DE ATRAVESAR UN TERRITORIO (México) examina la migración y la identidad a través de narrativas personales.
