Masterclass Sound Design & Documentairevertoning met David Novack

Ontdek de kracht van geluid in film en hoe het de emoties van een verhaal kan versterken tijdens een exclusieve masterclass sound design (gegeven in het Engels) door de gerenommeerde filmmaker en sound designer David Novack. Deze unieke gelegenheid biedt je niet alleen de kans om meer te leren over de kunst van geluidsontwerp, maar ook om een diepgaand gesprek te voeren met Novack zelf.

Na de masterclass wordt de aangrijpende documentaire ALL STATIC & NOISE vertoond waarin het verhaal van Oeigoeren en Kazachen die willekeurig worden vastgehouden in "heropvoedingskampen" in China centraal staat. De documentaire volgt onder andere de jonge Oeigoerse Jewher, die na het gewelddadige verlies van haar vader in Beijing naar de Verenigde Staten vlucht. Samen met Abduweli, een taalkundige die werd gemarteld voor het onderwijzen van de Oeigoerse taal, sluiten zij zich aan bij andere overlevenden om de verschrikkingen onder de aandacht te brengen en internationale bewustwording te creëren.

Deze vertoning en masterclass gebeurt in samenwerking met Maarten Coëgnarts, assistent-professor in Film Studies aan de Universiteit van Antwerpen en Amnesty International.

Masterclass on Sound Design & Documentary Screening with David Novack

Discover the power of sound in film and how it can enhance the emotions of a story during an exclusive sound design masterclass, led (in English) by renowned filmmaker and sound designer David Novack. This unique opportunity not only offers you the chance to learn more about the art of sound design but also to engage in an in-depth conversation with Novack himself.

Following the masterclass, his latest documentary All Static & Noise will be screened, centered around the story of Uyghurs and Kazakhs who are arbitrarily detained in "re-education camps" in China. The documentary follows young Uyghur Jewher, who fled to the United States after the violent separation from her father at Beijing airport. Together with Abduweli, a linguist who was tortured for teaching the Uyghur language, they join other survivors worldwide to expose the atrocities and raise international awareness.

This screening and masterclass is a collaboration with Maarten Coëgnarts, Assistant Professor in Film Studies at the University of Antwerp and fellow of the Society of the Cognitive Studies of the Moving Image (SCSMI) and Amnesty International.
