THE BIG SLEEP

Privédetective Philip Marlowe wordt ingehuurd om Carmen, de jongste dochter van generaal Sternwood, in de gaten te houden. Ze gaat om met slecht gezelschap en Marlowe moet voorkomen dat zij en haar familie worden afgeperst voor gokschulden. Marlowe wordt al snel verliefd op de oudste zuster, Vivian, die echter niets met Marlowe te maken wil hebben.
