NASHVILLE is one of the essential films of the 1970s, a critical mosaic of America on the eve of the presidential election. Shelley Duvall towers above the rest in hot pants and platform shoes as the enigmatic groupie L.A. Joan. Of all the characters, Duvall is perhaps the most memorable.
