Lori Petty belichaamt Tank Girl, een jonge vrouw die in een dystopische wereld leeft waar het tirannieke megaconglomeraat Water & Power, geleid door de wrede Kesslee (prettig gestoorde vertolking van Malcolm McDowell), de watertoevoer in handen heeft. Rachel Talalay’s cult classic TANK GIRL is, once seen, never to be forgotten. Be it the costumes, the make-up and special effects or the legendary post-punk soundtrack. Lori Petty embodies Tank Girl, a young woman who lives in a dystopian world where the tyrannical mega-conglomerate Water & Power, led by the ruthless Kesslee (gleefully disturbed performance by Malcolm McDowell), controls the water supply. After Tank Girl is enslaved and escapes, she and a band of misfits – among whom Ice-T as a mutant kangaroo soldier and Naomi Watts as Jet Girl – fight against the megalomaniac Kesslee.

The quick action is intercut with animated sequences, referencing the comic book series on which the movie is based. The voices of Courtney Love, Portishead and Björk accompany the punk aesthetic and sleazy humour of the iconic and beloved action heroine and her impressive tank-wielding skills.
